Print - Elephant

Just picked up some new archival quality giclee prints of my 'Grubby Princess' work!
Until now I had been printing myself from my studio, but I made the decision to try outsourcing my printing and I couldn't be happier with the results. Thanks to local business Deluxe Art Printing - their print quality is amazing, it looks so vibrant. I am also excited I can now start printing at a larger scale.

8x10 'Goodnight Elephants' print, now back in stock for a limited time.

My art - the process

Today I am having a little photography session - trying to work on improving my product photography.
Up until now I usually just list my prints in my Shop, EtsyMini Mohs or Madeit using a digital snapshot, but I know it is much more appealing to the customer to actually see what it could look like framed and in their own home, so I am working on adding props and trying to use natural lighting - which is proving difficult as my home apparently doesn't have much natural light : (
I will be slowly photographing and updating my sites to include these shots over the next few weeks.

My Art - The Process

I am excited have begun working on a set of 3 mermaids.
They will be available individually but I think they will look amazing hung three in a row, with white frames, in a little girls or even teen girls bedroom.
I am going to give each slightly different colouring, but all will be pastel, beachy-type colours. And I will give them all a little friend, this one has a cute little jellyfish, was thinking maybe a turtle in my next one and not sure about the third yet, any suggestions?
Will also have to come up with some mermaid-esque names when I list them in my shop! Hmmm..

Here is a peek at my original sketch...

And the final product...

Now to get working on the other two! Watch this space : )

My art - New print

Ok, well it's not EXACTLY new, some of you may recognise this as my 'Ava' print,
however it has changed slightly, hopefully you will agree for the better?!
I have now added an adorable little pet turtle!
I really loved the original and have it hanging in my 'office' (*computer nook)
but just felt it needed something extra, I really think that the addition of the turtle
completes it... what do you think?

I will still have the original print available, upon request, though the one with the turtle will be the one I will be selling in my shops from now on.

My art - the process

Just thought I would give you a sneak peak into my sketchbook and share a couple of my original sketches with you today, as well as a little overview into my art making process...

My usual process is to illustrate using black pen (any ol' black ballpoint pen will do me)
and I draw straight into one of my many Canson drawing pads I have floating around
my home. I prefer to draw straight on using pen, rather than pencil, as I really enjoy the permanence of pen - I embrace and work with any little mistakes or flaws (I find they add to the quirky nature of my artworks). With a pencil I find I can start trying to be a bit too perfect and the essence of my usual illustrations is often lost as it all becomes a bit too rigid.
